Superfood NingXia Red!

Are you consuming enough antioxidants? Not likely.

I’m snowed in today so I’m going to share with you some research I’ve recently discovered about antioxidants and my new favorite beverage, NingXia Red (or as my kids call it, “magic juice”)!

Antioxidants are incredibly important and powerful! Here’s some ways antioxidants can help YOU stay in optimal health:

Did you know that your body will completely change ALL of the cells in its body every 7 years? That’s a new opportunity for health and wellness every 7 years! Isn’t that amazing?! So any wrongs you’ve done in the past can be erased through making good choices TODAY.

But when we make bad choices over and over again, each 7-year cycle gets progressively worse and nobody wants that.

This is where antioxidants can be so powerful! They keep your cells healthy and happy. 😁

My favorite antioxidant is NingXia Red and here’s why: In 1993, Young Living Founder D. Gary Young, was traveling the world seeking the natural secrets of life, energy, and vitality, when he discovered a small culture living extraordinary long lives and was introduced to Chinese scientist Dr. Songqiao Chao. Dr. Chao told Gary about a delicious berry that had been prized for thousands of years in China for its powerful health supporting benefits. He further explained that the people who regularly ingested this berry led remarkably long and healthy lives.

No wonder China feeds NingXia wolfberries to their Olympians! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

People eating these particular wolfberries were living longer, healthier lives so Gary became convinced that this super-fruit needed to be made available to everyone! By combining the fruit with citrus 🍊 essential oils (for their high limonene content) and a few other powerhouse 🍒 fruits, Gary created a powerful superfood drink that tastes great and replenishes the body with key nutrients!

Fall Infused Essential Oil Recipes! 🍁🌾

Are you one of those “Pumpkin-spice-everything please!” people? Or do you absolutely love the smell of apple pie and the sight of leaves changing colors on the trees? How about creamy lattes, plaid scarves and fuzzy boots!? If any of that sounds appealing these recipes are for you!

I usually talk/type too much and can go on and on about essential oils for hours so I’m going to tone it done on this blog entry and just give you the ish you really want here, which is the recipes!

So here you go. Get out your DIY containers, your diffuser and your Young Living essential oils and get ready to make your home the best smelling one on the block! 😍👏

Let’s start by turning on the diffuser, shall we:

Have you ever used sugar scrub?? Maybe you prefer dry crunchy legs but not this mama. Sugar scrub those babies down in the shower and they’ll feel sooo silky after. Or gift your cute little jar to a friend!

Putting this baby in the bathroom 🚽.  I never have to buy toxic bathroom spray again!

Hold on. The spray smells too wonderful, now I’m hungry:

1 box spice cake mix

1 can pure pumpkin (preferably organic but my wallet was feeling a little empty today)

1 drop YL Nutmeg EO

1 drop YL Cinnamon Bark EO

(Although not pictured, please use the Vitality line of Young Living’s essential oils when cooking or consuming the oils).

Ok mini muffins are in the oven. What else shall we make?

Don’t have Cinnamon Bark or Clove EO? Use Thieves! 8 drops of Thieves, 4 drops Orange (or Lemon or StressAway if you only have starter kit oils). Or whatever combo you love! Thieves is a great immune system support though so I always use it in my fall and winter hand soaps!

Wow that was an inexpensive one! I’m never buying hand soap again!

And you can use any foaming hand soap container for this. Glass, stainless steel, plastic. But if it’s plastic be sure it says PET, PETE or HDPE on the bottom so you know it’s higher quality plastic that can hold up to our diluted essential oil masterpiece.

Ok let’s see..

We did a lot of spiced things so let’s cool it down with some lip balm. Feel free to leave out the cocoa powder if you prefer it to be clear (which I do) instead of brown. The cocoa butter is chocolatey enough.

Prefer the lip balm be more apple pie like? Use this combo instead of Peppermint EO:

P.s. I buy my lip balm containers on Amazon.com (just like most of my oily supplies). But NEVER buy your oils there. It’s not worth the risk. Only use oils you trust as they aren’t regulated and the word “pure” is a self-given title.

Power Peppermint Mocha Iced Coffee (for amazing skin and sexy muscles)

Hot summers call for amazing iced coffee!  ..At least when you live in New England!  But this coffee is more than just amazing, its everything your body needs in one iced cold delicious drink!

You’ve probably heard of “bullet proof” coffee by now.  All “bullet proof” really means is that powerful fats and other nutrients our bodies need were added to your morning cup of joe.  This Peppermint Mocha Iced Coffee Recipe is the same idea only I didn’t add grass fed butter or coconut oil because its ICED… that means the coconut oil or butter would be chunky rather than melted…eeww.

So anyways, lets talk about ingredients.

First, you’ll want to brew a cup of coffee. 8-10oz cup is good.  I like to use a dark roast usually so that when my ice cubes start to melt, my coffee doesn’t seem to get watery as fast, but any coffee is good.  Next you will need milk.  I usually use a little organic half & half and a little 1% milk.  If you don’t want to use dairy, vanilla almond milk or coconut milk are great alternatitives!  For a sweetener, I LOVE agave.  It’s a low-glycemic sweetener and is therefore better for your body than regular sugar.  You could also try a little maple syrup or stevia or monk fruit sweetener too.  Feel free to leave out both the milk and sweetener if you like your coffee black!

That part was basically about making a regular coffee.  Now for the POWER part!  You will need 1. A good collagen powder and 2. A good protein powder.

Collagen is great for our joints, tendons, ligaments, bones, skin and muscles!  As we age, our bodies need more collagen to stay strong, flexible and hydrated… No one wants to be dried up and wrinkly!  I use Neocell Super Collagen but Great Lakes makes a good one too.  From personal experience, I’ve noticed I need to consume a scoop of collagen every day in order to see results.  The collagen needs to build up in your system before you start seeing skin improvements and lean muscle.  It also seems to help my muscles be much less sore after a big workout day.   One scoop of collagen everyday does great things for your body!

Protein Powder will help the collagen build your muscles.  The more lean muscle you have, the faster your body burns fat!  But its important to pick a high quality protein with no fillers.  My favorite protein in the world is Young Living’s Pure Protein Complete.  I use the chocolate deluxe flavor because I like to turn my coffee into a mocha, but the vanilla spice one is good as well.  The Pure Protein Complete has an amazing blend of whey protein, goat whey protein, pea protein, egg white protein AND organic hemp seed protein.  And if that’s not enough, it also has a full range of amino acids to support a healthy metabolism and ancient peat & apple extract to support ATP production (the energy currency in the body).  Crazy right!?  It’s basically all the nutrients you need in a day in one little scoop!

OK so now we have our coffee, milk, sweetener, collagen, and protein with amino acids.  Last thing we need is our Peppermint Essential Oil!  You didn’t think I was going to make something without essential oils, did you??

Peppermint Essential Oil is great for digestion and makes our mocha coffee into PEPPERMINT mocha coffee!  YUM.  I’ve always been a fan of Peppermint Mocha Lates, especially from Starbucks, so this is my WAY HEALTHIER iced version.  All you need is ONE drop of Peppermint Essential Oil for this recipe so technically, one 5ml bottle of Young Living Peppermint Vitality Essential Oil can make at least 75 power peppermint mocha iced coffees!!

By the way PLEASE do not ingest essential oils from other brands unless you have seen their farming and distilling process and trust them entirely.  There are NO regulations for essential oils so you don’t know what you are putting in your body unless the company can show you.  I only trust Young Living because they own their own farms AND you can visit them anytime you want to see how they use NO pesticides and test their oils multiple times before carefully sealing them into little bottles and shipping them to your home.  I decided awhile ago that if I couldn’t see what the company does on the farm, then I wouldn’t buy from that them. Anyways, back to our power coffee recipe.  Mix all the ingredients with an immersion blender like this one –> 

Then add a bunch of ice cubes.  And drink up!  Cheers to a delicious powerful healthy breakfast beverage and a great start to a new day!  You are now on your way to an amazing bod and healthy skin!

Here’s the full recipe:

-8oz cup of coffee

-1/2 cup milk

-2 teaspoons of sweetener of choice

-1 Drop of Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil

-1 Scoop Collagen powder

-1 Scoop Young Living Pure Protein Complete powder

Blend, add ice, and drink up!

Foaming Hand Soap Recipe!

If you are anything like I was, you probably walk by Bath & Body Works smell some amazing chemical fragrance, do a double take, and walk right into the store.  You probably walk around smelling candles and soaps until your arms are full of goodies and your head starts to hurt from all the synthetic fragrances.

Don’t worry, becoming chemical free doesn’t have to mean, no more fun smells!  Thanks to essential oils you can create your own toxin-free soap with REAL smells from REAL plants, rather than something chemically engineered and labeled as “fragrance”.  Did you know that the ingredient “fragrance” is actually a catch-all label for hundreds of different chemicals…so something that says “natural fragrance” or even just “fragrance” could have just about anything in it!… They might as well just write “possibly contains dog poop” on it 😜

Anyways, back to business.  Time to make some REAL soap.  The good news about all those trips to Bath & Body Works is that you can use all their nice foaming hand soap containers because they’re actually made with a good quality plastic (PETE)!  Just dump out the chemical yuck and buy a big bottle of unscented Castile soap (one 32oz bottle will make about 32 bottles of foaming hand soap!).  I usually buy my Castile soap on Amazon.. But you can also find it in decent grocery stores.

Now for the RECIPE!:

-Foaming hand soap dispenser

-2 Tablespoons Castile Soap (approximately, I hate measuring so I just squirt some in there)

-20-30 drops of your favorite Essential Oils (Don’t go to the grocery store and buy cheap junk, get the real deal here because then you can multi-task by getting rid of the chemicals AND adding in immunity boosting oils! BAM now you’re really on fire!)

-Fill the rest of the way with water (leave space at the top so you don’t overflow when you put the top on like I always seem to do..)

-Optional: 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil or fractionated coconut oil (keeps your hands soft)

Done!

Peppermint Infused Chocolates!

Isn’t it exciting when you discover something super HEALTHY that actually tastes AWESOME??  That’s what these are and they can be altered to your liking!

No processed sugar and super easy to make!  This is my go to healthy dessert after dinner when I need to satisfy the mean sweet tooth I inherited from my mom ❤️

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Organic Unrefined Cold-pressed Virgin Coconut Oil

1/8 cup Honey 🍯

1/4 cup Organic Cacao Powder

5 drops YL Peppermint Essential Oil (for flavor and digestive support!) – only use high quality essential oil here (especially important since you are ingesting them and Young Living is the only brand with essential oils FDA approved for consumption). If you don’t have any yet, visit http://www.myyl.com/reposa and scroll down to click Enroll Today!  Grab a starter kit (which includes Peppermint EO) and lots of other fun oils to try!

Optional Ingredients for additional health benefits!:

1 Tbsp Collagen powder (great for supporting the connective tissue in our body, as well as our skin and bones!)

1 Tbsp Organic Protein powder (plain, vanilla or chocolate flavor) YL makes some awesome power packed protein but I just used Grass Fed Whey Protein this time!

1 Tbsp Organic Raw Agave (or just more honey but I’m a big raw agave fan)
Mix everything in a bowl and taste for sweetness before adding extra honey or agave to the mixture. If you love peppermint, feel free to add a few more drops of Peppermint EO but taste as you go!

Scoop mixture into a zip lock bag and cut off one corner so you squeeze out little drops or swirls of candy to around the size of a Hershey’s kiss onto a tray or pan.

Refrigerate or freeze until hardened (only takes a few minutes) and enjoy!  (Coconut oil will melt at room temperature so keep these candies in a container in the fridge once hardened.)
