Power Peppermint Mocha Iced Coffee (for amazing skin and sexy muscles)

Hot summers call for amazing iced coffee!  ..At least when you live in New England!  But this coffee is more than just amazing, its everything your body needs in one iced cold delicious drink!

You’ve probably heard of “bullet proof” coffee by now.  All “bullet proof” really means is that powerful fats and other nutrients our bodies need were added to your morning cup of joe.  This Peppermint Mocha Iced Coffee Recipe is the same idea only I didn’t add grass fed butter or coconut oil because its ICED… that means the coconut oil or butter would be chunky rather than melted…eeww.

So anyways, lets talk about ingredients.

First, you’ll want to brew a cup of coffee. 8-10oz cup is good.  I like to use a dark roast usually so that when my ice cubes start to melt, my coffee doesn’t seem to get watery as fast, but any coffee is good.  Next you will need milk.  I usually use a little organic half & half and a little 1% milk.  If you don’t want to use dairy, vanilla almond milk or coconut milk are great alternatitives!  For a sweetener, I LOVE agave.  It’s a low-glycemic sweetener and is therefore better for your body than regular sugar.  You could also try a little maple syrup or stevia or monk fruit sweetener too.  Feel free to leave out both the milk and sweetener if you like your coffee black!

That part was basically about making a regular coffee.  Now for the POWER part!  You will need 1. A good collagen powder and 2. A good protein powder.

Collagen is great for our joints, tendons, ligaments, bones, skin and muscles!  As we age, our bodies need more collagen to stay strong, flexible and hydrated… No one wants to be dried up and wrinkly!  I use Neocell Super Collagen but Great Lakes makes a good one too.  From personal experience, I’ve noticed I need to consume a scoop of collagen every day in order to see results.  The collagen needs to build up in your system before you start seeing skin improvements and lean muscle.  It also seems to help my muscles be much less sore after a big workout day.   One scoop of collagen everyday does great things for your body!

Protein Powder will help the collagen build your muscles.  The more lean muscle you have, the faster your body burns fat!  But its important to pick a high quality protein with no fillers.  My favorite protein in the world is Young Living’s Pure Protein Complete.  I use the chocolate deluxe flavor because I like to turn my coffee into a mocha, but the vanilla spice one is good as well.  The Pure Protein Complete has an amazing blend of whey protein, goat whey protein, pea protein, egg white protein AND organic hemp seed protein.  And if that’s not enough, it also has a full range of amino acids to support a healthy metabolism and ancient peat & apple extract to support ATP production (the energy currency in the body).  Crazy right!?  It’s basically all the nutrients you need in a day in one little scoop!

OK so now we have our coffee, milk, sweetener, collagen, and protein with amino acids.  Last thing we need is our Peppermint Essential Oil!  You didn’t think I was going to make something without essential oils, did you??

Peppermint Essential Oil is great for digestion and makes our mocha coffee into PEPPERMINT mocha coffee!  YUM.  I’ve always been a fan of Peppermint Mocha Lates, especially from Starbucks, so this is my WAY HEALTHIER iced version.  All you need is ONE drop of Peppermint Essential Oil for this recipe so technically, one 5ml bottle of Young Living Peppermint Vitality Essential Oil can make at least 75 power peppermint mocha iced coffees!!

By the way PLEASE do not ingest essential oils from other brands unless you have seen their farming and distilling process and trust them entirely.  There are NO regulations for essential oils so you don’t know what you are putting in your body unless the company can show you.  I only trust Young Living because they own their own farms AND you can visit them anytime you want to see how they use NO pesticides and test their oils multiple times before carefully sealing them into little bottles and shipping them to your home.  I decided awhile ago that if I couldn’t see what the company does on the farm, then I wouldn’t buy from that them. So if you don’t have peppermint essential oil yet, you can buy it here: http://www.myyl.com/reposa.  Young Living is also the only company with a Vitality line FDA approved for consumption.

Anyways, back to our power coffee recipe.  Mix all the ingredients with an immersion blender like this one –>

Then add a bunch of ice cubes.  And drink up!  Cheers to a delicious powerful healthy breakfast beverage and a great start to a new day!  You are now on your way to an amazing bod and healthy skin!

Here’s the full recipe:

-8oz cup of coffee

-1/2 cup milk

-2 teaspoons of sweetener of choice

-1 Drop of Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil

-1 Scoop Collagen powder

-1 Scoop Young Living Pure Protein Complete powder

Blend, add ice, and drink up!

Foaming Hand Soap Recipe!

If you are anything like I was, you probably walk by Bath & Body Works smell some amazing chemical fragrance, do a double take, and walk right into the store.  You probably walk around smelling candles and soaps until your arms are full of goodies and your head starts to hurt from all the synthetic fragrances.

Don’t worry, becoming chemical free doesn’t have to mean, no more fun smells!  Thanks to essential oils you can create your own toxin-free soap with REAL smells from REAL plants, rather than something chemically engineered and labeled as “fragrance”.  Did you know that the ingredient “fragrance” is actually a catch-all label for hundreds of different chemicals…so something that says “natural fragrance” or even just “fragrance” could have just about anything in it!… They might as well just write “possibly contains dog poop” on it 😜

Anyways, back to business.  Time to make some REAL soap.  The good news about all those trips to Bath & Body Works is that you can use all their nice foaming hand soap containers because they’re actually made with a good quality plastic (PETE)!  Just dump out the chemical yuck and buy a big bottle of unscented Castile soap (one 32oz bottle will make about 32 bottles of foaming hand soap!).  I usually buy my Castile soap on Amazon.. But you can also find it in decent grocery stores.

Now for the RECIPE!:

-Foaming hand soap dispenser

-2 Tablespoons Castile Soap (approximately, I hate measuring so I just squirt some in there)

-20-30 drops of your favorite Essential Oils (Don’t go to the grocery store and buy cheap junk, get the real deal here because then you can multi-task by getting rid of the chemicals AND adding in immunity boosting oils! BAM now you’re really on fire!)

-Fill the rest of the way with water (leave space at the top so you don’t overflow when you put the top on like I always seem to do..)

-Optional: 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil or fractionated coconut oil (keeps your hands soft)

Done!

See! Kicking chemicals out of your home isn’t so hard after all! 😁 #winning

So here’s mine! (Post pics of yours on my FB page @ultraoily for chances to win free stuff!) Since my new foaming soap is going in the kids bathroom, I added 10 drops of Thieves Essential Oil to boost their immune systems and 10 drops of Purification Essential Oil for its amazing stink-eating smell!! (p.s. Both of those are in the Premium Starter Kit here)

Travel Like A Boss

WOW!  I’m not the only one that brings their diffuser on trips!  I run a little motel in southern RI called The Anchor Motel and we just noticed that customers are starting to bring their diffusers with them to help them relax on vacation!

Diffusing in a hotel room or camper or boat cabin or tent ..whatever your travel preference maybe…personally I can’t stand tents..i know you’re thinking “You are a essential oil diffusing hippy, how could you not love getting back to nature in a tent??  But sleeping on the ground with the insects chewing my blood all night just isn’t as appealing as it used to be when I was a kid…  Anyways, where was I???  Oh yes, diffusing while you travel is a great idea!  It can help you relax and help you sleep like you are at home or BETTER.

Last mini vacation we went on, we slept in my in-laws RV (now that’s camping! ;)) and I brought Lavender & cedarwood essential oils for night time and some citrus oils to wake me up in the morning.  There’s nothing like waking up to the sun in your face, a working Keurig by your bed and the smell of lemon and tangerine diffusing through the room.  Ahh. The life.  If only I hadn’t also woken up with my daughters foot in my rib cage every morning….🤪

I also bring Thieves essential oil too because staying healthy while traveling is so important!  MUCH immune system support needed!!

So diffusing on vacation = quality sleep, better mood, and good health 🥰

So that’s how you vaca the right way.  Glad to see people are starting to catch on ;). Happy travels!!

What exactly is an essential oil??

You may have heard the word essential oil passed around more and more lately (likely between the more earthy crunchy mamas on the playground or some hippy holistic doctors), but what exactly is an ESSENTIAL OIL??

Well, essential oils are basically the “life blood” of the plants they come from!  The oils are cold-pressed or steam distilled from plant material (bushes, leaves, flowers, etc).  Lavender essential oil is pressed from Lavender flowers and Lemon essential oil is pressed from Lemon rinds. Simple right?  But why do we want these??

ANSWER:  Essential oils are volatile (meaning super small molecules that evaporate quickly) and can get into the body through even the tightest of membranes like the skin and the blood brain barrier quickly.  Essential oils are ORGANIC, like people are ORGANIC, as in NOT MAN MADE, so rather than altering our body’s rhythms like medicine, they conform to the body to regulate it.

Feeling sad or angry?  Open and bottle of Lemongrass Essential Oil and breath its scent in deeply for 2 minutes, then tell me how you feel.  It’s that easy.

Love feeling well?  Essential oils like Young Living’s Thieves Vitality Blend (clove, cinnamon, lemon, etc) will remain in your body (when ingested through tea or in a veggie capsule) LONGER if you need it.

Awesome right??  Now I’m not saying don’t take your medications, but I AM saying that using essential oils can be a good ADDITION to your routine and may even keep you above the wellness line!

Essential oils have been used for THOUSANDS of years.  It’s only recently that man has “forgotten” about them with the rise of chemical medications and man-made cleaners becoming more prevalent.  Heck, even the Bible mentions essential oils directly and indirectly over 1,000 times!  Essential oils (especially Myrrh and Frankinscense) were just for the wealthy back then but today anyone can get them if they want to!  Just be sure not to run to your local grocery store for them…who knows what kind of synthetics are in those (since essential oil labeling is not regulated) *yikes*.

Only buy from a company you can trust, a company that will show you their ENTIRE process from seed, to cultivation, to distillation, to sealing the oil in the bottle.  If you can’t see it, don’t use it.  In case you were wondering, I trust Young Living!  Anybody can visit their farms and in January of 2018, I got to go!!  From what I could see, Young Living’s standards for its plants are even HIGHER than those required to be certified organic.  What an awesome company!!  Why would they do that??  Some people just CARE about the health of others and Young Living always chooses health over wealth.  I’ll tell you a story about that another time.

Time to go put a drop of Lavender Essential Oil in my kids’ diffusers so they can sleep through the night tonight!! Bon Soir!

DIY Deodorant: Don’t be scared of sweat!

Did you know??  Sweat is 99% odorless and basically just water leaving our bodies.  Why is everyone so scared of sweating?  Probably because when sweat can’t quickly evaporate (clothes holding it in, armpits not airing out, etc) our bodies get nervous and send out bacteria to get rid of the sweat..and the bacteria is what smells.

So we end up running to the store and slathering on all kinds of nasty harmful aluminum-filled deodorants to try to prevent the sweat when all we really need is something that will prevent the bacteria and give the sweat more time to evaporate.  Most store bought deodorants are filled with toxins that seep into our skin and travel through our delicate lymph nodes.  Aluminum has been linked as a possible cause of cancer, yet we still slather it on our armpits EVERYDAY in fear of sweat!

Did you know?? The yellow stains on our white t-shirts aren’t from sweat, but from the aluminum seeping back out of our armpits onto our clothes?? Yuck!  Time to stop slathering on the cancer sticks and make our own simple DIY deodorant!
DIY Deodorant Recipe:

2 Tablespoons Betonite Clay  (great for detoxing)

1 Tablespoon Baking Soda  (optional but great for absorbing odor)

1 Tablespoon Arrowroot Powder  (wicks away wetness)

1 Tablespoon Shea Butter  (moisturizing)

2 Tablespoons Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil  (moisturizing)

1/4 cup Beeswax  (makes the deodorant WAY easier to apply)

10 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil  (our odor eater!)

10 drops Lavender Essential Oil  (great for the skin!)

10 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil  (optional just for a fun scent!)

Melt down the beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil in a glass measuring cup that’s sitting in boiling water, remove from heat and mix in all the other ingredients. Pour it into an old deodorant container or jar, and apply twice a day!

Simple, right!?
Now, at first, your body will need to go through a detox from all the harsh chemicals you’ve been putting through your armpits so it may take up to 2 weeks before your new DIY deodorant starts to really work well.  Give it time, it is SO worth it in the end.  It feels great to sweat, but not smell bad, and know that NO CHEMICALS are being sent through my lymph nodes every day!  I can even allow my 4-year old to put some on her armpits (on days that she insists she is a grown up too) because I can rest assured that she is not applying chemicals to herself!  Harsh chemical free children = happy mommy.  Now go throw out those nasty toxic deodorants and whip up some of your own!
IMPORTANT: Don’t have essential oils yet?  DON’T BUY GROCERY STORE ESSENTIAL OILS.  They might not work as well because they don’t have the same chemical constituents as high quality essential oils.  Plus there is the potential that they are laden with chemical solvents (hence why they are often less expensive than Young Living oils).   What’s the point in replacing yucky deodorants with a healthier deodorant that’s laden with yucky oils??  Don’t do it.

I only trust Young Living essential oils and you can get them easily by clicking here.  Choose your starter kit which comes with a diffuser and 11 of the most popular essential oils.  If you are ambitious, go ahead and sign up for essential rewards by adding Tea Tree EO, Grapefruit EO and a bottle of amazing Thieves cleaner to your order.. You’ll start earning free oils to make all kinds of DIY recipes right away!  I will be here to give you recipes and answer questions every step of the way.  Message me anytime and thank you in advance for supporting small business!!
